　　Oriental Today——A state appropriation of one million RMB was approved for the protection of the Danjiang Wetland Nature Reserve, the water-head region of the middle-line of SNWDP. Yesterday the reporter heard from the Henan provincial government that the National Development and Reform Commission of China had decreed the investment plan implementation.

　　It is learned that the Danjiang Wetland Nature Reserve located in Xichuan County, Nanyang City is the water-head region of the middle-line of SNWDP, and has an important ecological niche. The nature reserve with a total area of 64,027 ha has a great variety of rare wild animals and plants including 3 species of national first-class protection wild animals such as black stork (Ciconia nigra) and red-crowned Crane (Grus Japonensis), and 36 species of national second-class protection wild animals such as Chinese giant salamander (Andrias davidianus).
